Joanne grew up in Long Island, NY. Thinking she wanted to be a teacher she attended NYU, received her bachelors in Economics and History, then attended Hofstra University to get her Masters of Science in Education. After teaching for just a short period of time, Joanne, her husband, and two children, Robin and Janet, moved to Statesville, NC with her parents in 1975. In 1978 she started working with her husband, Larry, at the textile mill helping him with his bookkeeping. Joanne had a feeling there was more to taxes than that at the mill...and boy was she right! She then began taking accounting classes and started studying for the CPA exam. Starting the family tradition, she passed the CPA exam on the first attempt in 1982. After working at an accounting firm for 2 years, she decided to branch out on her own. She founded and started Rosenfeld and Company in 1985.

Joanne's mother was a bookkeeper her whole life, so maybe it was in Joanne's blood to become an accountant or maybe just written in the stars. Either way the people of Statesville sure are happy she is here! Since she now works with her children day in and day out, she enjoys her empty nest and home and loves running away to the beach with her husband.
